Who we are
Adverse Credit Mortgages is a trading name of Charlotte Wood, of Stourbridge, DY8 5TF. We are a mortgage lead generation service. We do not give mortgage advice: our role is to introduce people looking for a mortgage or remortgage to FCA-authorised advisers who can advise on their case, including poor and adverse credit cases.
For UK data protection law, Charlotte Wood is the data controller of the information you give us through this website. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office under registration number ZC278418.
What we collect
When you request a quote we ask for your name, your email address, a phone number, the type of mortgage you are interested in, and anything you choose to tell us in the free-text box. If you describe your credit history there, that goes to the adviser with your enquiry. Please don't send us documents or details we haven't asked for.
We also collect basic technical information automatically, such as your IP address, the pages you visit and the device you use.
How we use it
We pass your enquiry to an FCA-authorised adviser who can help and who will contact you about it by email, phone or SMS. We keep records of the enquiries we receive, handle any complaint, and look at how the site is used so we can improve it.
We rely on your consent, given when you submit a quote request; on taking steps at your request before a contract for advice; and on our legitimate interests in running the service.
Who we share it with
We sell your enquiry to one FCA-authorised mortgage adviser or broker, who will contact you about it. This is how the service is funded, so the quote costs you nothing. Your enquiry goes to that one adviser and is not offered to a panel of firms.
We also use service providers who process information for us, such as our website host and our messaging systems, and we may disclose information to a regulator such as the FCA or the ICO where the law requires it. We do not pass your details to anyone to market unrelated products to you.
How long we keep it
Where an enquiry does not become an application, we keep your details for 12 months from your last contact with us. Where you go on to receive advice or apply, your adviser keeps the records their regulator requires, usually six years. After that your information is deleted or anonymised.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the information we hold, ask us to correct or delete it, ask us to stop using it, object to how we use it, or withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect what we did beforehand.
To use any of these rights, write to Charlotte Wood, Adverse Credit Mortgages, Stourbridge, DY8 5TF, or contact us through the form on our Contact page. We will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. Our registration number is ZC278418.
